ANZIA RIBA GSNZAP
Malcolm is a registered Architect in New Zealand and the UK, as well as a New Zealand Green Building Council Approved Professional.
Malcolm oversees and contributes to all aspects of Ministry of Architecture + Interiors projects, with particular attention given to team management, editorial design reviews, and control of designs against budget and project constraints.
Malcolm’s diverse portfolio gives him a unique insight into the creation and delivery of unique spaces that embrace the optimum design solution.
BArch (hons) ANZIA
Lindy has over 15 years experience across the disciplines of architecture and interior design. She has gained project experience in both New Zealand and the UK, across a wide range of industry sectors.
Stakeholder involvement has been critical in many of her projects and is one of Lindy’s strengths. Lindy contributes design leadership and critique for all of our projects, managing to focus both big picture and at detail level and driving the team towards best possible outcomes.
Dennis has over 40 years’ architectural experience and has worked on a multitude of projects across the public and private sectors. He is experienced in all aspects of the design process from initial client brief through to documentation and construction.
Dennis’ versatility as an architect and project leader has been proven on many local projects. His education experience is extensive and detailed; his skill in producing thorough reports and solution proposals is invaluable. Dennis’ technical knowledge is extensive.
Associate, Head of Interiors
Lisa’s longstanding experience in public sector projects brings an extensive body of knowledge and understanding of the rigors of large and small scale design, detailing and coordination.
Lisa has worked as a senior designer at large UK Design and Build fitout specialists, specifically managing commercial, education and healthcare projects.
Lisa understands the value and benefits of incorporating furniture, fittings, equipment and branding into the design process to realise a holistic solution that meets each client’s requirements and needs.
Chin Leong Law
Law’s experience in the New Zealand construction sector spans over 30 years. During this time he has been involved with projects of significant scale across a range of typologies.
His proficiency in multiple software packages has seen him involved with delivering design, documentation and services to a range of clients for projects including the original Sky Tower, Auckland District Plan height controls and building environmental assessment studies.
Law maintains all IT systems at Ministry Of Architecture + Interiors and excels at coordination and interoperability of CAD systems.
After 10 years working in the timber industry, Charles joined the Ministry of Architecture + Interiors team in 2006 and has helped deliver some of the Practice’s larger projects. His involvement has included preparation of detailed construction documentation and construction observation for a range of projects.
His ability during the construction stage, assisting clients, contractors and project managers ensures that projects run seamlessly from site commencement to practical completion.
Tony has over 45 years experience as a practising architect and business manager. Tony started working for Hoadley Budge Architects in 1967, moving into the role of Managing Director in 1982 where he stayed until 2010.
Internationally he has applied his expertise to work in New Zealand, Australia, Canada, England, Thailand and China. As a consulting Director, Tony is adept at meeting client’s project requirements and expectations.
Bachelor of Environmental Design
Leticia’s depth of knowledge in various fields relating to architecture, urbanism and industrial design inform her design ability and flair; while her construction site experience ensures that her designs are practical and well documented.
Leticia brings international experience to the team, having worked for the past 10 years in Montreal, Canada. She has worked as an environmental and architectural designer at Jean Damecour Architects, La Firme Designs and Appareil Architecture as a project manager.
ANZIA Masters Heritage Conservation
Thyra is an Architect who has been involved in a variety of projects; predominantly commercial fitouts, education, art, recreation and community building developments.
In all cases she has taken a strong interest in the environmental impact of the design and its context; taking care to be sympathetic to existing buildings and neighbourhood scale and character.
Thyra has also maintained an interest in heritage conservation research and design where relevant, most notably through adaptive re-use.
Nic specialises in the design and delivery of large-scale and complex building across the commercial, residential and hospitality sectors. A multi-award winning designer and urbanist; he has co-ordinated a number of significant international masterplans.
Nic is experienced in sustainable and low-carbon design for the built environment. Adopting a client-focused and practical approach, Nic always strives to deliver great architecture through teamwork.
Initially completing the Health Science bachelors, Shanker went ahead in pursuing his passion for Architecture.
Currently in his final year of the Architecture bachelors degree at Unitec, Shanker has gained a better understanding and experience through successful design and build team projects which involved collaborating with industry professionals.
Shanker contributes to the team in areas of model management and technical drawing production through skills gained via the National Diploma of Architectural Technology programme.
David studied architecture at the University of Miami and Rome program, and moved to New Zealand in 2010. Since then David has worked on various residential and commercial projects, developing expertise in areas such as large scale apartment blocks in the CBD and planning traditional neighbourhood developments.
Throughout his study and early career David developed an extensive understanding of New Urbanism planning, TND design and classicism. He has a passion for vernacular architectural language and design, and respects tradition and local heritage throughout the design process.
Helen is a friendly, highly organised and detail focused administrator who works hard to ensure that the office runs smoothly and keeps the team on their toes!
Outside office hours Helen enjoys reading, playing the violin and travel. She is currently studying part time towards a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology.
Craig is an experienced senior draughtsman with 20 years New Zealand architectural experience working solely for NZIA registered architectural practices.
He is responsible for the technical design, documentation and contract administration of a wide range of public, private and residential projects. Extensive experience has been accumulated from working on projects nationwide, liaising with numerous local authorities, contractors and suppliers. Craig is a key player in our quality control team.
Diploma of Applied Interior Design
Originally from South Africa, Michelle moved to New Zealand 4 years ago and is here to stay. Having recently joined our team, Michelle is a graduate from the Diploma of Interior Design at Unitec.
Her design process begins with comprehensive research of the brand, development of a strong concept and a carefully orchestrated balance of colour and layer combinations.
M.Arch (Hons), BAS, BCom
Stu has previous experience in the retail and industrial design sectors. Combined with over 10 years experience in sales and marketing roles prior to his architectural studies Stu has a unique understanding of the commercial, retail and hospitality sectors.
A recent graduate of the Master of Architecture (Professional) program at Unitec his thesis explored the ability of performative architecture to be involving and engaging for the purpose of ecological conservation. This allowed Stu to pursue his interest in ecology and the extension of architecture beyond its built envelope.
Stu's work at Ministry of Architecture + Interior sees him involved in a variety of projects across the Architecture and Interior teams.
Alastair is a registered Architect with 40 years of professional experience. His project experience has ranged over a wide variety of project types and scales. While he has held roles at management and Director level through his career Alastair has always maintained a hands-on involvement in projects and in all facets of the design and delivery of projects.
Alastair has operated as a “complete Architect” throughout his career and has enjoyed the confidence of clients to take the lead role in designing and successfully delivering key projects. His success in responding to client requirements has been consistently noted. His design work has been recognised by a number of awards and by the accolades of grateful clients.
Alastair is known for his professionalism and his attention to detail. He has developed expertise in delivering projects with highly technical requirements and has special expertise in education and health projects. He maintains an interest in new ideas and new developments in design. The buildings he has designed are recognised for their classic design qualities and for their sensitivity to context. Alastair is committed to delivering projects that will create success for their owners and that will last and serve their owners well over time.
Rasha Al Assafi
M.Arch (Hons), BAS
Rasha has experience working in a variety of design areas. Over the last 3 years she has worked in a medium sized practice on a range of projects from residential to commercial and education.
She has recently graduated with a Masters of Architecture (Professional) from the University of Auckland. Her thesis examined coastal communities and how the use of prefabrication and mass customisation technologies can aid in flexible and affordable communal living. These explorations enabled her to gain a better understanding of design-build principles through a final 1:1 fabrication.
Her prior work experience and pursuits in construction bring forward an extensive range of skills to the team at MOAI, adding value through her eye for detail. She is excited to be working towards her registration.
John completed both his Bachelor of Architectural Studies and Master of Architecture (Professional) program at Unitec. His thesis explored the connection and effects of architecture and the nurturing of creativity.
He previously worked for a mid-sized architectural practice specializing in commercial architecture where he has been involved in a range of design tasks from concept design through to working drawings. His previous architectural experience has exposed him to a variety of projects primarily in educational facilities but also commercial fit-outs and industrial developments.
Senior Interior Designer
Rebecca has over 16 years extensive experience specialising in spatial planning & project management in New Zealand and overseas in the fields of commercial fit-out, office design, hospitality, healthcare and aged-care.
Rebecca is experienced in the complete design process from establishment of client design briefs, concept development, liaison with clients, contractors and consultants and detailed documentation through to detailed construction.
Rebecca’s success is the depth of understanding of what her clients need. What most excites her is establishing what client hopes to achieve then balancing this against budgets and end-user satisfaction.
Brett has recently graduated with a Masters of Architecture (Professional) from Unitec. His thesis explored the nature of sound and acoustics, culminating in the design of a 1,500-seat concert hall.
He has a depth of experience in the construction industry and over the last 7 years has been involved in large scale infrastructure and urban design projects.
Brett enjoys working on a wide range of projects and looks forward to developing his design skills to complement his documentation experience.
In his spare time, Brett enjoys sailing and learning to play the piano.
MArch (Hons), BAS
Desmond completed his Bachelor of Architectural Studies at Unitec and furthered his studies at The University of Auckland by completing the Master of Architecture (Professional) programme. Driven by his interests in health, sustainability, mixed-use architecture and urban design, his thesis was an exploration of the built environment’s role in fighting a global obesity epidemic.
Throughout his studies he secured architectural positions in both Hong Kong and New Zealand, gaining a breadth of design experience from fields including interior design, landscape design, graphic design, and architectural design. As a result, Desmond is able to contribute to a wide range of projects at Ministry of Architecture + Interiors.
With a passion and exceptional eye for great design, Tamsin strives to create unique, functional and timeless environments.
Tamsin has studied both Spatial Design and Architectural Technology and her experience in residential interior design, kitchen design and project management has developed her ability to harmonise artistic interior design elements with architectural detail to create practical and creative responses to design challenges.
Vladimir has over 30 years’ experience in architecture, interior design and industrial design. He has worked on a number of major residential, commercial and recreational developments around New Zealand, as well as overseas in the United States and Russia.
He has also been involved in a number of urban design projects.
He enjoys finding creative outside-the-box solutions that are not only aesthetically appealing, but also achievable.
